Three of us were out painting at 10am today on West Cliff Drive in Santa Cruz – a day of rapidly changing skies, fog and shimmering sunlight on Monterey Bay.
While setting up our gear we stopped to watch a group of large dolphin just off shore – their large dorsal fins showed up really well against the backdrop of the silver sea – they were heading towards the Wharf. A special gift for those of us out and about. We painted and enjoyed ourselves without any visitors to our easels all morning – so peaceful and lovely.
After painting we headed over to the Wharf and had lunch at Riva Fish House – get free parking because it was “Locals Tuesday”.
Next week we paint at Carmel River State Beach – try to share a ride – not that we need much urging with gas prices going up like a rocket right now.
