Last Saturday (1/14/2o12) a group of us drove down to Pebble Beach and had lunch on the golf course. The event was the annual meeting of the Monterey Bay Plein Air Painters. (MBPAPA) This was the first time for several of us and we had a wonderful afternoon. The members were friendly and welcoming, and lunch was good too. It was interesting to get a view of another painting organization in action. Of course, MBPAPA is considerably larger and more structured at 90 strong. They function much as we do. However, I think their size makes them a little less nimble than SCOP. One of the things I love about SCOP is our ability to change course quickly without a lot of fuss. So why join MBPAPA? Membership provides new opportunities for plein air sites and exhibitions. And I’m sure we can learn new things from this group. Check it out at this link to the MBPAPA website.
Michele – Thanks for driving the “party van” to Pebble Beach – I felt like I was on a mini-vacation with all the fun chatter of a van full of fellow artists! Never a shortage of things to talk about – art, travel and everything in between.
What a cute picture! Sounds like a fun day:-) And thanks for the inspiration to join MBPAPA ~ I’ve been thinking about joining them, and may do so this year. Will chat with you about it, painting friends ~ how much fun can we stand? I’d say a lot!
