Plein-Air in Paris and Regensburg

Dear Painters ~ back from family visits and travels in Europe, I wanted to share a bit of the journey with you. Only got to paint a couple times, but enjoyed it sooo much.

Daniel and I spent a few days in Paris, and we both fell in love with the city of lights, so full of Art, life and charm. I hadn’t been there in over 20 years, and never as an impressionist painter ~ what a treat to finally visit the gorgeous Musee D’Orsay , I went there twice! Then, standing inside Musee De L’Orangerie with Monet’s huge Water Lily paintings felt like the holy chapel of Impressionism, and visiting breathtaking Giverny was a pilgrimage to the Mecca of Monet.

Painting at Tuileries Gardens

Awash in color and paintings, I snuck in my own humble attempt, a quick plein air pleasure at delightful Tuileries Gardes, in front of the Louvre.

What joy!

Then, while visiting my family in Regensburg, Germany (with over 2,000 years of history under its belt, this medieval city with the greatest density of pubs anywhere in Germany, is now a world heritage site ~), I claimed one day for Plein Air and loved every moment of it.

Visiting family is wonderful… and, there is so much to paint! I’m ready to go back and paint for a month in either place.:-)

  1. Karin, Thanks for sharing a bit about your trip! From your paintings, I can see you enjoyed not only beautiful vistas but fantastic weather. Your comments about the museums you visited and Monet’s Giverny made me want to return as well; I’m due it’s been 12 years.
