Hwy 1 to San Andreas Rd. Right on Zils Rd. (past La Selva Beach)
July 15, Santa Cruz Arboretum, 10 am
- Off of Empire Grade Road near High Street. From Mission, take Bay Street, going up to the UC campus. Turn left at the High St. traffic light at the base of campus. Stay on this street for approx 1/2 mile, the entrance is to your right
- They now have a $5 entrance fee due to budget cuts.
July 22, 17 Mile Dr. All Day
17 Mile Drive – Carmel: Gate keepers # 831-624-0123 – call one day ahead of event – tell them it is for an art class.
July 29, Skypark, 2 pm
Skypark Linear Park, Scotts Valley – The walking/biking trail in this park overlooks two valleys and has views of mountain ridges and an ancient quarry on the outskirts of Scotts Valley. The best views are in the middle so cut through the skypark development to the 2nd access point. Bathrooms are available at Sky Park within walking distance.
Take the Mt. Hermon exit, and go west toward Felton. After K-Mart, turn right at the light on Skypark Drive.
August 5, Fort Ord State Beach, 10 am
- From Highway 1 south, take the Light Fighter Drive exit in Fort Ord, turn left onto 2nd Avenue. Turn left at Divarty Street. Turn right at 1st Avenue. Signs will be posted directing you into the park. Free.
August 12, Fredrick St. Park, 2 pm
- This park overlooks the upper harbor and has a view of Arriana Gulch.
- Take Soquel Ave. to Fredrick St. Turn west and follow the street almost to the end. The park on your left.
August 19, Rio Theater, 10 am. Soquel Ave. Park across the street.
August 26, Monterey Wharf, 10 am, bring lunch
Hwy 1 to Del Monte. Under tunnel, stay right. Park just after the fork.
($1.50/hr.) Path and park are to the right. Good view of wharf and boats.
September 2, Waddell Creek , 10 am
Directions: On Hwy 1 – 17 miles North of Santa Cruz.
Paint at the ocean or walk into the park. Vistas of wetland, and farmland further in. Should have nice willow color and pickle weed.
September 9, Kirby Park, 2 pm
Directions: Take Hwy 1 South. Left on Salinas Rd (where Hwy 1 becomes 1 lane). After the golf course, take a right on Werner Rd. At the dead-end, turn right on County G12, go. 0.7 mile and turn right onto Elkhorn Rd. Proceed 2.5 miles – there will be a sign for Kirby Park on the right. Facilities: portable toilets.
September 16, Los Gatos Downtown, 10 am
Hwy 17, stay left, take Santa Cruz Ave. Meet at park on the right.
