SCOP Painting Sites for October thru December 2014

 

October 7 at 10am:

Quail Hollow

Directions: Time to paint some Fall colors! Take Zayante Rd. off Graham Hill Road – go past the Trout Farm Inn – look for Quail Hollow Road on the left.  Quail Hollow Farm is on the Right about 1/2 mile up the road.

 

October 14 at 2pm:

Antonelli’s Pond

See the pond with Fall reeds, grasses and leaves reflecting off the water. Traveling North on Cabrillo Hwy take a left on Schaffer Road and another left on Delaware Avenue. See the large peaceful pond on your left thru the trees…park on Delaware and walk the flat dirt road in front of the Pond with ducks and nice reflections from grasses and trees to paint.

 

October 21, at 10am:

Santa Cruz Arboretum

Paint plants, shrubs, and trees from around the world…many in Fall colors. Off of Empire Grade Road near High Street. From Mission, take Bay Street, going up to the UC campus. Turn left at the High St. traffic light at the base of campus. Stay on this street for approx 1/2 mile, the entrance is to your right,

They now have a $5 entrance fee due to budget cuts.

 

October 28, at 10am

Santa Cruz Mission

(FYI: Many painters will be painting at Yosemite from Monday thru Thursday this week.)

Paint near the mission located on School Street off of Mission and Emmet Street in Santa Cruz.

 

November 4, at 2 pm

Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor

Meet at Aldo’s for lunch at 1pm prior to painting, or just come to paint at 2pm – northern side by Aldo’s- bring quarters for parking meters

 

November 11, at 2pm:

Live Oak Library

Directions: Take 41st Av. Exit off Hwy 1 – Right on 41st Av. – proceed towards the ocean – Right on Portola Av. – Proceed  0.9 mile on Portola – Live Oak Library will be on the ocean ( left)  side of Portola Drive near 24th Avenue, Santa Cruz The Live Oak Library overlooks Corcoran Lagoon which has those ugly radio towers planted in the middle of it.  But the far end of the parking lot overlooks a section of the lagoon that is tree lined with a few houses on the opposite side that is actually quite nice.

 

November 18, at 10am

Carmel Mission

Beautiful gardens all times of the year. Off Rio Road in Carmel – Bring $$ for entrance fee into the Mission – Bring your lunch as well.

 

November 25, at 2pm

Pleasure Point

Paint surfers, people walking on beach below, ocean vistas and coastline views. Drive to the end of 41st Ave. where it terminates at the ocean off E. Cliff Drive…with a large parking lot and restrooms. Before getting started on a painting you may want to plan to meet for lunch at one of the nearby restaurants.

 

December 2, at 10am

Fisherman’s Wharf, Monterey

All day Fisherman’s Wharf, Monterey: there is a path to the left of the wharf or we can drive through the tunnel, take the first right on Cannery Row, and there is a park on the right where

you can see the wharf and boats in the distance.

 

December 9, at 10am

Crow’s Nest

Paint on the dock or on the beach. Views of the harbor, Aldo’s and lighthouse.

 

December 16, at 2pm

Capitola Wharf

This time we’ll be painting on the Wharf – great vistas in all directions, plus fishermen/women, boats etc.  Bring quarters for meters.

 

December 23, at 10pm

Wilder Ranch

Paint barns, Victorian-style home, hills with trees…horses, cattle, sheep in pastures…fence-lined riding trails. About 2 miles North of Santa Cruz on Hwy 1…pay entrance fee and park near the bathrooms.

 

December 30, at 10pm

Assilomar State Beach, Pacific Grove

Meet just past Pt. Pinos. Lots of great ocean vistas on the way to Assilomar Conference Center. To get there, go into Pacific Grove, go left or South on Ocean past the golf course at Pt. Pinos…the great ocean views on one side and sand dunes on the other start here. We can carpool to a restaurant for lunch or bring a lunch.
